Japanese Table manner

We have some different table manners from Americans. In Japan, before we eat, we surely put our hands together and say “Itadakimasu”. “Itadakimasu” means that we eat foods from now, having appreciation. This behavior shows a gratitude for foods. People state that it was generated since people had run out of foods before. Also, an other difference is that we use chopsticks. Japanese use chopsticks and eat some of the same things they eat in China, Taiwan and Korea. We eat rice almost every day and some stuff because rice is a main food in our country. Most families serve some small plates of foods. We usually do not put everything on one big plate as Americans do. This way makes the table colorful. Finally, when we finish eating, we say “Gochisousamadesita” again to show gratitude for foods. We always eat foods, appreciating for foods.
