Cooking Time!!

I am a good cook, so I can cook a lot of dishes. Especially, I can cook “ Omu-rice” very well. When you cook it, you will need rice, eggs, ketchup and some vegetables. First, you will crack eggs and stir them with milk. Milk makes an omelet soft. Then, you need to fry the rice with ketchup and some vegetables such as diced onion, carrot or green pepper. When you finish frying the rice, you will make an omelet. Next, you will put the omelet on the fried rice. Finally, you can put some ketchup on the Omu-rice as you like. It seems to be easy to cook, but you need to practice in order to make it.

Eating cultures

I think there are some different points between Japan and America. One of the differences between us is that Japanese usually use chopsticks, but Americans do not. Actually, we often use fork and spoon, but we use chopsticks all most all the time. By the way, if we, Japanese, cannot use them well, it sometimes makes people uncomfortable. This is because we think it is assumed that we can use chopsticks perfectly. Second point is we usually have soup while making sounds and it is polite, but Americans think it is rude. This is because Japanese believe that the sound makes people, perhaps the host, happy. We express our satisfaction with sound. On the other hand, Americans have soup without sound. Sometimes, I forget the American style, so I have to study American eating culture more.

Favorite Food

If I could go to Japan and eat my favorite food, I would want to go to a Korean BBQ restaurant. I like Korean BBQ, but it is more like a Japanese style. I can eat all they serve. Of all others, I love yuck hoe, which is raw meat with sweet hot sauce. When I went to Chicago, there was a BBQ restaurant. I ate it there, but I want it made in Japan. Actually, it was tasty though. I like meat, so I want to eat meat every day. However, meat in America is too big and not so tasty. I really look forward to going back to Japan to have yuck hoe.

Better Fast Food

Most people believe that the U.S. is the kingdom of fast food. This is because there are lots of fast food chains in the United States. In Japan, we also have McDonald's; however, we have a different menu. The meals served by U.S. restaurant are relatively smaller than the Japanese ones. I was surprised at that because I thought everything in America was huge. I also can say that some American clerks are not as friendly. We, Japanese, are never allowed to behave like that. If we acted like that, we would definitely be fired. Although I can understand it is cultural routine, sometimes it makes me uncomfortable. Yet, I like Americans' cup sizes, which are bigger than that the Japanese. However, if I had the choice of either, I would choose the Japanese McDonald's.
